Dog Harness for Long-Haired Dogs – Anti-Matting, No-Tangle & Comfortable

Designed for dogs with long, fine, or curly coats. This anti-matting dog harness uses low-friction, smooth-coated webbing to reduce tangles and coat damage during everyday walks.

Most harnesses weren't built with long hair in mind. Traditional webbing grips the coat, edges catch, and matting builds up — especially around the chest and shoulders. This one glides over the coat instead.

It won't eliminate matting completely — no harness can — but it significantly reduces the friction that causes it.

Why it’s different

Most dog harnesses aren’t designed with coat friction in mind. Traditional webbing grips the hair, edges catch, and over time this leads to matting — especially around the chest and shoulders.

This harness uses smooth-coated webbing that glides over the coat instead of pulling it.

It won’t eliminate matting completely — no harness can — but it significantly reduces the friction that causes it.

    Size guide

How to measure: Wrap a soft tape measure around your dog's chest, just behind the front legs — this is the widest part of the ribcage. For fluffy or thick-coated dogs, add 1–2 cm to your measurement.
    cm

Size Chest Weight Typical breeds Strap D-ring
XS 36 – 46 cm 3.5 – 6 kg Toy Poodle, Chihuahua, Maltese, Yorkshire Terrier 2 cm No
S 46 – 55 cm 5 – 10 kg Miniature Poodle, Bichon Frisé, Shih Tzu, small Cavalier 2 cm No
    M 53 – 65 cm 10 – 20 kg Cocker Spaniel, Beagle, medium Doodle, Cavalier (large) 2.5 cm Yes
    L 63 – 78 cm 20 – 35 kg Standard Poodle, Border Collie, Dalmatian, large Doodle 2.5 cm Yes

XS is best suited to compact small breeds from 3.5 kg. Fine-boned or narrow-chested dogs under 3.5 kg may find the front strap loose — if in doubt, contact us before ordering.

M and L share an overlap at 63–65 cm. If your dog falls in this range, size up to L for a more comfortable fit.

Weight is a rough guide only — always use the chest measurement to choose the right size, as dogs of the same weight can vary significantly in build.

How to measure: Wrap a soft tape measure around the middle of your dog's neck. Leave one finger of slack for a comfortable fit.
    cm

Size Neck circumference Strap width Typical breeds
    M 32 – 50 cm 2.5 cm Medium to large dogs

Currently available in one size, suitable for most medium to large breeds.

Leash Length Strap width Best for
Everyday leash 150 cm 2 cm Daily walks, training, close control
Crossbody leash 200 cm 2 cm Hands-free walks, longer outings

Both leashes use the same smooth-coated webbing as the harness — easy to wipe clean after muddy walks.

    FAQ

Is the harness really designed for dogs with hair, or is that just marketing?

That’s exactly why this dog harness for dogs with hair was created.

Most standard dog harnesses use rough-textured webbing that catches on fine, long, or curly coats, creating friction every time your dog moves. This often leads to matting around the chest and shoulder areas, where the harness sits.

Our harness uses smooth-coated webbing that glides over the coat instead of gripping it. By reducing friction at these contact points, it helps minimize matting caused by the harness.

It’s specifically designed to address the areas where matting typically occurs. We don’t claim it eliminates matting entirely — no dog harness can guarantee that. But reducing friction in the coat is the core principle behind this design.

What materials are used, and are they safe?

The harness and leashes use soft-touch coated polyester webbing. The collar uses PVC-coated webbing.

All materials have been independently tested to EU REACH standards (242 substances) and California Prop 65. No lead, cadmium, BPA, or phthalates were detected.

We don't use the word "non-toxic" because that's a claim that requires specific certification — but we can tell you exactly what was tested and what wasn't found.

I'm not sure which size to order.

Use the size guide on the product page — it's based on your dog's chest measurement, not weight.

If you're between two sizes, size up. The harness has an adjustable chest strap on M and L; XS and S have fixed sizing, so getting the measurement right matters more for those.

If you're still unsure, contact us before ordering and we'll help you figure it out.

Can I return it if it doesn't fit?

Yes. If the harness doesn’t fit your dog, just contact us within 14 days of receiving your order and we’ll help you arrange a return.

Items must be unused and in their original condition. Return shipping costs are covered by the customer.

Under EU regulations, you have the right to return your order within 14 days for any reason — we just ask that you get in touch with us first so we can assist you.

    How do I clean it?

Wipe down with a damp cloth after muddy walks — the coated webbing doesn't hold dirt or odour the way fabric does.

For a deeper clean, hand wash in lukewarm water and leave to air dry. Don't put it in a washing machine or tumble dryer; the coating and metal hardware are not designed for that.

Is this only for dogs with hair, or can any dog wear it?

This dog harness for dogs with hair is specifically designed for breeds with long, fine, or curly coats — such as Poodles, Doodles, Maltese, and Bichon Frisé. These coat types are more prone to matting caused by standard dog harnesses, which is where the anti-matting design makes the biggest difference.

The smooth-coated webbing reduces friction against the coat, helping to minimize matting at key contact points like the chest and shoulders.

At the same time, the harness is comfortable for any dog. The soft, padded construction and secure fit make it suitable as an everyday dog harness, even if your dog doesn’t have issues with matting.

In that case, the main benefits are the easy-clean material and a comfortable, reliable fit for daily walks.
